No Long Term Vision :
Social media being used by GenZ for creation seems to be impatient while growing. Like a kid takes 18 years to hit puberty in the same way your social media venture will require long time duration for you to achieve something out of it. Therefore learn to be patients for a while.
Not Being Consistent :
Now a days number play a bigger role in making us inconsistent. I’ve being a content creator in recent times. Apologetically claiming that I’ve to shut it down because the number didn’t grow at the required pace.
Higher Expectations :
The bigger brands have been working on their social media for years. Creating value for years bring repetitive consumers. So when you are just starting out focus on creating value and bring in as many as possible consumers. Keep your expectations reasonable when you are just starting out. You won’t be getting instant traction.
Unclear Roadmap :
As in case you are on a road journey, in order to reach at your end destination you need a clear roadmap of your route. In same way during your social media journey you need to figure out you breaks and stoppages. And all above that, you need to focus what mode of social media you use in order to reach your destination.
Fear Of Teams :
I personally fear of teams due to the trust issues because when somebody becomes successful his/her juniors start envying them and now they want to copy their leader to make something like that on their own, therefore we just stay confined to ourselves.
Insecurity :
Due to increase in usage of social media, there are a lot of people whose job is just to criticize your efforts you put into content creation. And due to such handful of people a lot of blooming creators fear of coming on screens.
Success And Failure :
See when you are just starting it out, your success and failure will go hand in hand, until you cross a certain mark of numbers you will get anxious about being failed. It is basically different for people in different niches.
Case 1 : For somebody whose end goal is to provide services then for them 10,000 to 20,000 people are good enough because conversion rates are as high as 1% to 2%. On the basis of which they will end up having 200 to 400 people as their clients in long term. These people will be paying on recurring basis for the services you provide, therefore it is enough to run a good marketing agency with 5 people staff.
Case 2 : If you are a creator and don’t want to get involved in providing services. So you can pick any number of products in your niche and provide affiliate links for them in your content, for example in between of your blog or in description your YouTube video or in your Instagram bio. Generally in such cases conversion rates just drop to 0.4% to 0.5% per 10k. This usually happens because people are not familiar to the products. So in order to meet the earning you Case 1, now you need to target as high as 20,000 to 40,000 people.
Usually on social media you only will not keep on gaining followers there will be a lot of times you will be loosing your followers too.
Reach matters on media :
Followers and viewers are two different set of peoples. Viewers are just those people who have landed on to your content because of organic or inorganic search results and ads. They become the fresh set of people who will slowly get accustomed to your content.
Whereas followers are those people who are genuinely interested in your content and brand. And these are the people who you going to convert into your costumers of costumers of your affiliate partners.
Consumption And Acceptance :
The social media world is now changing, people are getting wiser about what sort of content they should consume. Every user has a set number of creators to follow for entertainment and infotainment. So there is just a 1% place for someone new to enter into their watchlist.
This 1% place only can be acquired when you, “The new creator ” has some value to provide which those existing once can not. Your story telling has to be much more matured and highly fun at the same time to capture those existing consumers.
My Opinion :
A lot of people say that short form content has taken over, to which I would highly disagree. Because if you see statistics, podcasts are highly consumed for a deeper insight on any topic either in audio or video form. Therefore whatever you produce should have value in order to capture any markets’ valuable consumers.
